Kabul, Feb 3 (UNI) The Taliban has forcibly arrested an Afghan female activist, the media reported on Thursday. Mursal Ayar was arrested at her home in Kabul on Wednesday. Ayar is the sixth woman to have been taken by the Taliban in the past weeks, the BBC reported. However, the Taliban has denied the arrest of the female activist. "This is a case which has just happened. We are investigating it," Taliban spokesman Bilal Karimi said. There are fears for Parwana Ibrahim, Tamana Paryani and Paryani's three sisters Zarmina, Shafiqa and Karima who went missing on 19 January, BBC reported. Afghan women's reported arrest has given rise to a huge outcry on online platform and concern from the right groups. In the mid-January, the activists had participated in peaceful demonstrations in the capital city demanding women employment, educational and political rights under the new regime. After a few days, Paryani had uploaded a video on the social media showing the armed men entering her house. "Help, the Taliban have come to my house," she said in the video. On Tuesday, Ravina Shamdasani, spokesperson for the High Commissioner for Human Rights said, "We are gravely concerned for their well-being and safety". "The lack of clear information on the location and well-being of these and other individuals, perpetuates a climate of fear and uncertainty", she also said. The UN also noted that the Taliban had ordered a probe on Saturday for the disappearance of the women but said "confirmed information was still lacking". Under Taliban rule Afghanistan has become the only country in the world which publicly limits education on the basis of gender, which is a major sticking point in the Taliban's quest for legitimacy, and in the lifting of international sanctions on the group, BBC said in its report.
